Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome

Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome is a tachycardic cardiac arrhythmia that results from the presence of an abnormal accessory atrioventricular pathway known as a Kent bundle.

It has a characteristic EKG pattern consisting of a delta wave within the QRS complex.

Though it can be treated with medication, in the long term the treatment of choice is destruction of the abnormal electrical pathway by radiofrequency catheter ablation.

Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome is sometimes caused by Leber hereditary optic neuropathy (LHON), a form of mitochondrial disease.

My daughter had the ablation procedure and is currently having slight episodes in which her heart flutters. Could the WPW be reoccuring?
