Westin Peachtree Plaza

The Westin Peachtree Plaza is an impressive 220 meters tall and contains 73 stories of hotel rooms. When it was finished in 1976, it was the tallest hotel building in the world (it would later be surpassed by the Marriott Renaissance Center in Detroit). It was also Atlanta's tallest building from 1976 to 1987.

The building is cast in reflective glass in a cylindrical shape that reflects the entire skyline around it in a panorama effect. There is also a small cylinder attatched to its side that is actually an elevator shaft. In the uppermost floors, there is a revolving restaurant and a public observatory. The design is very similar to the Marriott Renaissance Center.

The architectural firm that designed it was John Portman & Associates. The tower is owned and operated by Westin hotels.
