Venice Arsenal

The Venice Arsenal in Venice, Italy apparently produced nearly one ship every day, in what was effectively the world's first factory that, at its height, employed 16,000 people. The idea of interchangeable parts was first developed at the Arsenal, where ships were produced using pre-manufactured parts, assembly lines, and mass production.
