Veit Stoss

Veit Stoss or in Polish Wit Stwosz (ca. 1445-50 in Horb am Neckar - 20 September 1533 in Nuremberg) was a famous German sculptor who came to Cracow, Poland from Nuremberg in 1477.

He carved a magnificent wooden altar in St Mary's Church in Cracow. Among other his important works are tomb of king Casimir IV the Jagiellonian in Cracow Cathedral, Altar from Bamberg and some other sculptures in Nuremberg including the Annunciation and Tobias and the Angel.
