Vairocana Buddha
According to the Trikaya doctrine, Vairocana (also Vairochana, Jp. 大日如来 Dainichi Nyorai) is the cosmic embodiment of the historical Buddha Shakyamuni.
Vairocana is the central figure of esoteric Shingon Buddhism in Japan, which is based largely on the teachings of the Mahavairocana Sutra. The Vairocana statue in Nara's Todaiji is the largest bronze Buddha in the world.
