Upper Austria
The Austrian state of Upper Austria
Upper Austria (Oberösterreich) is one of the nine federal states or Bundesländer of Austria. Its capital is Linz. Upper Austria borders on Germany and the Czech Republic, as well as on the other Austrian states of Lower Austria, Styria, and Salzburg. With an area of 11,980 km2 and 1.3 million inhabitants, Upper Austria is the third largest Austrian state (Vienna and Lower Austria have more inhabitants, Styria and Lower Austria are larger in size).
Other larger towns in Upper Austria are Steyr, Wels, Enns, Schärding, Gmunden, Grießkirchen, Braunau, Bad Ischl (see Franz Josef and Elisabeth of Austria), and Ebensee.
Sectors
Upper Austria is divided into four sectors as is traditional: the Hausruckviertel, the Innviertel, the Mühlviertel and the Traunviertel.
Tourism
Fucking is a small settlement in Upper Austria that has become popular among tourists.
