The University of Auckland is New Zealand's largest university by student numbers. Established in 1883, the university is made up of seven faculties over four campuses City, Grafton, Tamaki and North Shore.
In 2002, the university initiated development of a proposal to amalgamate with the Auckland College of Education, to create a Faculty of Education at the college's Epsom campus.
