St Bartholemew the Great

Magnificent Church in Smithfield founded as an Augustinian Priory in 1123 - see St Bartholomew's Hospital for further details.

The Nave of the Church was pulled down in the Reformation but the Choir survives largely intact from the Norman period. Parts of the Cloister also survive. After the Dissolution the Priory Church became the local parish church and changed from Catholic to Protestant.

The Church was used for the location of the 4th Wedding in the film Four Weddings and a Funeral and in Shakespeare in Love.
