Saint Vincent

Saint Vincent is an island in the Caribbean, part of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. It is located in the Caribbean Sea, north of Trinidad and Tobago. It was disputed territory between France and the United Kingdom in the 18th century, but was ceded to the UK in 1783. It gained independence as late as 1979.

The Garifuna ( Black Caribs) left on the island of St Vincent are known to have settled in the village of Greiggs Village St Vincent. My Father is from that village and i have visited there in 1984. I have always wondered why many of my family resembled ( eskimo type ) indians as i thought they looked like. After reading about the Kalipuna and Africans who became the dominant peoples of the Island i know finally realise why we have many facial features not like West Africans.
