Puerto Rican Baseball player
Born Roberto Clemente Walker, August 18, 1934, Carolina, Puerto Rico.
Died December 31, 1972.
Elected to the United States Baseball Hall of Fame in 1973.
Awards: NL MVP, 1966

Outfielder for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Perennial batting champion. Had one of the most powerful throwing arms of any outfielder. Hero in his native Puerto Rico. His last hit was number 3000 in his career. First Hispanic to be selected into the Baseball Hall of Fame, and the only to be selected before the otherwise mandatory five-year waiting period.

Died in a plane crash while en route to deliver aid to earthquake victims in Nicaragua.
