Puerto Chicxulub
Chicxulub is a town in Yucatán state, Mexico, located at 21.14° North, 89.51° West. In 2000 the town had a population of about 3,400 people.
The town is most famous for being the location where geologists first discovered the impact of a huge meteorite some 65 million years ago which may have caused the Cretaceous-Tertiary extinction event; see Chicxulub Crater for more detailed discussion.
