Procyonidae is a family of Carnivora which includes the raccoons, coatis, Red Panda, and others.

  • FAMILY PROCYONIDAE
  • Subfamily Procyoninae (12 species in 4 genera)
    • Common Raccoon, Procyon lotor
    • Tres Marias Raccoon, Procyon insularis
    • Barbados Raccoon, Procyon gloveraleni
    • Crab-eating Raccoon, Procyon cancrivorus
    • Cozumel Island Raccoon, Procyon pygmaeus
    • Guadeloupe Raccoon, Procyon minor
    • Nassau Raccoon, Procyon maynardi
    • Ringtailed Coati or Coatimundi, Nasua nasua
    • White-nosed Coati, Nasua narica
    • Mountain Coati, Nasua olivacea
    • Ringtail, Bassariscus astutus
    • Cacomistle, Bassariscus sumichrasti
  • Subfamily Potosinae (6 species in 2 genera)
    • Kinkajou, Potos flavus
    • Olingo or Bushy-tailed Olingo, Bassaricyon gabbi
    • Allen's Olingo, Bassaricyon alleni
    • Beddard's Olingo, Bassaricyon beddardi
    • Harris's Olingo, Bassaricyon lasius
    • Chiriqui Olingo, Bassaricyon pauli
  • Subfamily Ailurinae

There is considerable uncertainty over the correct classifcation of several members. Some authorities group the Red Panda with the Giant Panda in a separate family; the status of the various olingos is disputed: they may all be better regarded as subspecies of Bassaricyon gabbi.
