Pokémon Trainers are people who capture pokémon with pokéballs, raises them and trains them to battle other trainers that have Pokémon.
Pokémon Trainers are the heroes of the Pokémon video-game series since players "become" trainers by playing the game. The main character of the Pokémon Anime, is Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town.
Lifestyle
Every Pokémon Trainer, upon turning 10 years old, receives a pokémon from the local pokémon expert (like Professor Oak, for example) and with it, they must venture across the region. When they find Wild Pokémon that they haven't seen before, they weaken it in a battle to be able to capture it with a pokéball and have it join his or her team to travel together and catch more pokémon. Every Pokémon captured is added to their pokédex.
In certain cities, Pokémon Gyms are found. In these, a special trainer called the Gym Leader (a hard-to-beat trainer for their pokémon's strength and level, authorised by the Pokémon League) takes on challengers. If the challenger beats the Gym Leader in a pokémon battle, they receive a gym badge in reward.

- Having more gym badges makes your pokémon trust you more and they obey you even though they are stronger. It also allows them to use Hidden Machines. (For example, the first Hidden Machine teaches pokémon how to 'CUT certain little trees that block the way to the next Pokémon Gym, where the Gym Leaders are.)
- When you have the eight regional medals you can compete in the Pokémon League, the maximum challenge for trainers, since the opponents there are so strong there that everything you've practiced with the pokémon you've been getting throughout the game is tested."
They also receive a Technical Machine from the Gym Leader, which is used to teach a pokémon a new attack quick and easily.
Trainers earn money by beating other trainers who are obliged to give them half of the money they're carrying. They use this money to buy objects at the Pokémart such as pokéballs (used to catch even more pokémon yet).
If all of a trainer's pokémon fall unconcious and are unable to continue the battle, they are taken urgently to the last Pokémon Center they visited.
Pokémon Centers are special places where trainers' Pokémon are healed back to full health free of charges. The Pokémon Anime also shows they serve as an inn for them to spend the night before continuing their journey the next day.
Pokémon Trainers can also trade pokémon amongst themselves to obtain new pokémon and thereby complete their pokédex faster.
