Pokémon Blue: The Mysterious Missing Game
In America, Pokémon Blue is the companion game to Pokémon Red. It is necessary to buy both versions and trade between them to collect all the Pocket Monsters, although you could use a GameShark if you don't like to suffer, but I won't get into that on this page.
Let's take a quick trip to Japan (not literally, of course). Children were ecstatic when the two Pokemon games were released: Pokemon Red and Pokemon Green. Later, Pokémon Blue was released. It was not possible to buy it in stores. The game had to be ordered through children's magazines, which you might imagine the readers were reluctant to do at first. But they eventually caved in, because those children wanted something that was different from their Green games...or was it?
Here's where the mystery comes in. The American company released both Pokemon Red and Pokemon Green.
Most of you are probably thinking, "What are you talking about? We got Red and Blue, not Red and Green! Sando Shojo is crazy. I'm going back to the real Pokemon articles."
That's what you think. Both of us are technically correct. You see, Pokemon Green was released in America under the title Pokémon Blue. I don't know why. It's not going to do any good to rerelease it under its real name. So there you have it. The mystery of Pokémon Blue, cleared up for you...maybe.
