Oceanid

1. In Greek Mythology, a nymph who was the daughter of Oceanus; i. e., nymph presiding over the ocean.

2. More broadly, the Oceanids in Greek and Roman mythology were the three-thousand sons and daughter of Oceanus and Tethys. Each one was the patron of a particular spring, river, lake or pond. Each body of water had an Oceanid assigned to it.
