Matilda (children's literature)
Matilda is a novel about a girl named (as the title suggests) Matilda. Matilda's family cares little about her, and they encourage her watch television rather than read books. Matilda instead goes to the library and amasses a great deal of knowledge, so that when she starts kindergarten, she is miles ahead of everyone else. Her friendly teacher, Miss Honey, appeals to have Matilda moved up, but the evil Headmistress, Miss Thrunchbull, refuses.
Meanwhile, Matilda discovers she has superkinetic powers, and she eventually uses them to get rid of Thrunchbell. Matilda moves in with Miss Honey and loses her powers.
