Martin Dunwoody

Professor Martin J. Dunwoody is professor of mathematics at the University of Southampton, England. He was born on November 3, 1938. Dunwoody is working on Geometric group theory and low dimensional topology.

He received some public attention as he claimed to have a proof for one of the Millennium Prize Problems, the Poincaré conjecture, on April 7, 2002, but he had to admit a gap in the proof five days later.
