Leiji Matsumoto
Leiji Matsumoto (also known as Reiji Matsumoto) (松本 零士), is a well-known creator of anime and manga, particularly those set in the Captain Harlock universe.
Matsumoto first gained prominence shortly after World War II, when he drew manga dealing with war themes. He later created his expansive Captain Harlock universe, which showcased his masterful ability to create space opera. There have been numerous anime series set in this universe, including Galaxy Express 999, Queen Emeraldas and Cosmo Warrior Zero.
Matsumoto also supervised the creation of several music videos for the techno music group Daft Punk as well as a full-length animated movie with a Daft Punk soundtrack entitled Daft Punk & Leiji Matsumoto's Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem.
