Plot summary:
Sam, (Christian Bale) and his fiancé, Alex (Kate Beckinsale), are a newly engaged couple who move to Los Angeles to further their working careers, however, their world turns upside down as Alex's Mother (Frances McDormand), a free-spirited person, changes their world with her carefree ways. Alex starts off focused on her work but soon becomes attracted to her Mother's lifestyle and Sam finds he is attracted to Sara (Natascha McElhone).
