Iraq coup (1941)

The accuracy of this page is disputed, see talk.

The Battle of Baghdad in 1941 was a World War II battle in which rebellious Iraqi troops of Rashid Ali ambushed British soldiers traveling Transjordan, across Iraq and Persia, and into West Bengal. The British eventually took Baghdad and reinstated the infant King Faisal II of Iraq, and his regent, Abd al Ilah.
