Galaxy Quest is a 1999 movie parodying Star Trek, starring Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver and Alan Rickman. This movie is about the washed-up stars of a Star Trek-like TV series called Galaxy Quest who find themselves in a real Galaxy Quest-esque setting, thanks to some aliens who, never having heard of fiction, believed the show to be "historical documents" and duplicated the technology.
This movie parodied everything from the technology of Star Trek to the Star Trek conventions. The parody is mostly friendly, and was widely appreciated by science fiction fans. The movie won the Hugo Award for best science fiction movie of the year.
