Marquis de Francis (François) de Barbé-Marbois, marquis de (1745 - 1837) was the minister of Finance (Treasury) of France under Napoleon from 1801 to 1806. In this capacity, he negotiated the Louisiana Purchase with the United States. In 1829 he wrote the book Histoire de la Louisiane (History of Louisiana).
