Flow binding system

Flow binding system is a proprietary snowboard binding system, used to attach a rider's feet to the snowboard.

Flow bindings are intended to offer the levels of control available from traditional strap-in bindings, combined with the convenience of step-in binding systems.

Flow bindings have a folding high-back and a shaped material upper section. The upper section replaces the two straps used in regular step-in bindings. The user inserts the foot into the binding through the back, rather than the top, and then clips the high-back up into place.

For many, this binding system does deliver on its promise of strap-in control mixed with step-in convenience. There are, however, a number of drawbacks:

  • The bindings tend to be expensive
  • They can be difficult to set up
  • They cannot be folded flat for transport to the same degree as regular strap-ins
  • They have a reputation for being less durable than other bindings
