David Adams Richards
David Adams Richards (1950 - ), Canadian author.
He was born in Newcastle, New Brunswick in 1950 and is an author of fiction, stage plays, screenplays and poetry. A graduate of St. Thomas University in Fredericton, New Brunswick, he has been a writer-in-residence at various universities and colleges across Canada.
David Adams Richards has received numerous awards including a Gemini Award for scriptwriting for Small Gifts; the Alden Nowlan Award for Excellence in the Arts; the Canadian Authors Association Award for his novel "Evening Snow Will Bring Such Peace" and the Governor General's Award for the 1988 novel "Nights Below Station Street". He is also the winner of the 1999 Giller Prize for "Mercy Among The Children".
Mr. Richards is one of only three writers to win both fiction and non-fiction categories of the Governor General's Award. Winning for the novel Nights Below Station Street and the 1998 non-fiction award for Lines on the Water - A Fisherman's Life on the Miramichi
