Costa Smeralda

Costa Smeralda ("Emerald Coast") is a touristic maritime area in Northern Sardinia, with enchanting beaches and a system of villages completely built in accordance with an extremely detailed urbanistic planning.

The territory known as Costa Smeralda is 55 km long and more than 3,000 hectars wide.

This development, started in 1961, was financed by a Consortium of companies; president of this Consortium and representative figure was the Prince Karim Aga Khan. Among the many famous architects involved in the project, Busiri-Vici and Vietti.

Main villages: Porto Cervo, Liscia di Vacca, Capriccioli, Romazzino.

Reference towns: Arzachena, Olbia (airport and harbour).

In September the Sardinia Cup (sailing) is in its waters; reggattas are usually run by famous boats.
