It was extended in 1965 to include the former Metropolitan Boroughs of St. Marylebone and Paddington in the north. The city contains most of London's West End, and the permanent headquarters of the United Kingdom's government, with the Palace of Westminster, Whitehall, and the Royal Courts of Justice.
