Cinema of India
Indian Cinema is varied in its forms. The number of movies produced in India is the largest in the world. Similarly, the number of movie goers in India is also the largest in the world.
Due to the diversity in Indian culture, Indian cinema is multi-lingual. The Hindi cinema industry is called Bollywood. The Tamil Cinema Industry is called Kollywood and Telugu cinema industry is called Tollywood.
The Indian government gives the Dadasaheb Phalke Award annually as a recognition to lifetime contribution to Indian cinema. The award is in memory of Dadasaheb Phalke, considered as the father of Indian cinema.
