Christian

A Christian is someone who adheres to the faith of Christianity. It is also someone who believes that Jesus Christ is the son of God.

The term comes from the Bible, Acts 11:26.

...and it was in Antioch that the disciples were first called 'Christians'

Christian is the family name of the leader of the famous Mutiny on the Bounty, and is also the name of the protagonist in The Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan.

Christian is also a popular first name, especially in Northern Europe.

Note: The term Christian was originally a derogatory statement made by those of either Roman decent or popular Roman influence (See: Roman Conquest) during the early A.D. periods between the Birth of Christ and the eventual fall of Rome at the hands of the Germanics. Consequently, many educated followers of Jesus Christ refuse to associate themselves with this label; more times than one, they'll simply refer to themselves as Followers of Jesus or a Follower of The Way.
