Bharthiya Jana Sangh is the old name of Bharthiya Janata Party of India. It was started by Shyama Prasad Mookerjee on 21st October 1951 at Delhi. The symbol of the party in Indian elections was the lamp. After the party's bad showing in 1984, it was re-launched as the Bharthiya Janata Party, which is the current governing party of India.
