Beetle bank

In agriculture, a beetle bank is a strip of grass in a field that fosters breeding of insects hostile to pests. They are used as a form of natural pest control to reduce or replace the use of insecticides.

Beetle banks can be squares of grass left or ridges of cultivated land devoted to grasses and perennials that foster the breeding of predatory insects and spiders. They eat insects that are usually regarded as harmful such as aphids.

Beetle banks can also serve of wildlife habitats for birds and rodents.
