Asahi Shimbun
Asahi Shimbun (朝日新聞 Asahi Shinbun) is a national leading newspaper in Japan. Though the circulation, which is 12,600,000 as of 2002, is behind that of Mainichi Shimbun, the influence is considered greater. Its views are more conservative than that of the Mainichi Shimbun.
The newpaper has an alliance with International Herald Tribune, publishing International Herald Tribune the Asahi Shimbun as their English edition, a replacement of an old English edition.
Tensei Jingo (天声人語, Latin: Vox Populi, Vox Dei) is a prominent daily column featuring recent news and social issues.
