La Argentina originated the Neoclassical style of Spanish dance.
At age 11, she became the premier dancer at the Madrid Opera, but left at the age of 14 to study dances native to Spain. Later in her career, she toured much of North America accompanied by Flamenco guitarist Carlos Montoya.
