Ante Pavelic

Ante Pavelic (1889 - 1959) was the leader and founding member of the Croat extremist Ustashi movement in the 1930s.

He was the leader of the puppet Independent State of Croatia from 1941 to 1945 during the Nazi occupation of Yugoslavia. In 1945 he fled to South America via the rat lines. Upon arriving in Argentina, he became security advisor to Juan Peron. Peron then issued 34,000 visas to Croatians which included visas to some 734 Roman Catholic priests.
