Alma is a city located in Crawford County, Arkansas. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 4,160.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 12.9 km² (5.0 mi²). 12.5 km² (4.8 mi²) of it is land and 0.5 km² (0.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 3.61% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 4,160 people, 1,560 households, and 1,168 families residing in the city. The population density is 333.9/km² (865.4/mi²). There are 1,688 housing units at an average density of 135.5/km² (351.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 94.66% White, 1.71% Black or African American, 1.56% Native American, 0.10% Asian, 0.12% Pacific Islander, 0.75% from other races, and 1.11% from two or more races. 3.70% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,560 households out of which 42.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.1% are married couples living together, 14.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 25.1% are non-families. 22.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.66 and the average family size is 3.11.
In the city the population is spread out with 32.1% under the age of 18, 9.6% from 18 to 24, 28.9% from 25 to 44, 18.6% from 45 to 64, and 10.8% who are 65 years of age or older.
