Alfred Fuller
Alfred C. Fuller was born on an Annapolis Valley farm on January 13, 1885 in Welsford, King's County, Nova Scotia, Canada. He moved to Boston in 1903, at the age of 18, to live with his sister. A few years later, with a $75.00 investment, he started the Fuller Brush Company in Hartford, Connecticut, selling brushes door to door. By 1919, it achieved sales of more than $1 million per year. The company went on to be recognized throughout the continent. It remained in the Fuller familys hands until 1969 when the company merged with Consolidated Foods Inc.
Mr. Fuller maintained a lifelong connection with his native Nova Scotia, buying a home in Yarmouth where he and his family spent most summers.
Alfred C. Fuller died in December, 1973.
