Alexander Lange Kielland (1849 - 1906) was one of the most famous Norwegian authors in the 1800s. Born in Stavanger, Norway, he grew up in a rich family, but became very radical in his literature. Among his most famous works is the novels "Skipper Worse" (1882) and "Gift" ("Poison", 1883), and the short story "Karen". He is one of the so-called "The four greates" in Norwegian literature, along with Henrik Ibsen, Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson, and Jonas Lie.
