Air Caraibes

Air Caraïbes is the regional airline of the French Caribbean which comprises the overseas departments of France: Guadeloupe and Martinique.

History

Air Caraïbes started in 1998, out of the neccesity to have a regional airline responding to the need of the French Caribbean territories. The Company was founded through the merger of various local airlines (Air Guadeloupe, Air Martinique, Air St Barthélémy, Air St Martin).

Present-day

Based in Pointe-à-Pitre, (Guadeloupe) Air Caraïbes fleet consists, as of december 2003, of around 16 aircrafts, 2 Embraer ERJ 145, 2 ATR 42, 2 ATR 72, 5 Dornier 228, 4 Cessna 208, 2 Airbus A330-200. In 2002, the company transported 445.000 passengers and earned 68 Millions Euros in revenues. It has routes to 13 cities in territories and employs over 370 people. It is part of the Caribsky Alliance, an airline alliance which comprises in addition to Air Caraïbes the following airliners: LIAT, Winair (Windward Islands Airways).

Destinations include: Santo Domingo, Les Saintes, Saint Lucia, Saint Barthélémy, Marie-Galante, Port-au-Prince, Union, Grenadines, La Désirade, Saint Martin, Paris (France), Fort-de-France
