Agnès Varda

Agnes Varda (born May 30, 1928 in Brussels, Belgium) is a French filmmaker and director based in Paris and one of the key figures in modern film. She is called the "Grandmother of the New Wave" by some of her critics.

Her movies, documentaries and art installations, focus on documentary realism and social commentary. Her entire work features a distinct experimental style. For the 1985 documentary Vagabond/Without Roof or Rule she received the Golden Lion of the Venice Film Festival.

Agnès Varda teaches at the European Graduate School in Saas Fee, Switzerland.

I recently read a few article on the movie "The Gleaners and I". I also recently saw a news clip that focused on a group of people that would glean food from garbage. These were not bums or street people but doctors and engineers that felt that there was to much waste and this was a way to solve the problem. What would Agnes Varda think of these gleaners and there cause?
