Adams' Grammar School
Adams' Grammar School was founded in Newport Shropshire in 1656 by William Adams, a wealthy London Haberdasher who had been born in the town.
The School is now a state boarding school, and a specialist IT College with approximately 800 pupils, including 35 sixth form girls.
Notable alumni include the satirist Thomas Brown (1663-1704) and Prof. Maurice Stacey (1907-1994) who was pivotal in the discovery of Vitamin C.
