I know that Abbott wrote several books, including "Life of Napoleon", "History of the French Revolution", "Monarchies of Continental Europe", and "History of the Civil War in the United States".

I have volume 1 and 2 of "history of the civil war in america" by john s.c. abbott published in 1863 and 1866. It is illustrated with fabulous pictures of civil war generals, battles, etc.

Hello there! I was going through trying to find info myself?? I have a listing on Ebay and kind of feel like an idot because someone messaged saying the picture I have listed is from a book, which would be The History of the CIVIL WAR IN AMERICA.
Anyway, I did have the picture looked at to verify if it was a lithograph.....but after so many comments regarding the picture I got curious and removed the back of this picture. It is a book actually more like a phamplet? The front cover reads as follow:

While going through my late father- in-laws personal belongings, we found an old book The Story of Christianity by John S.C. Abbott. It does not have a publication date and the illustrations are protected with thin white paper to blot the ink from printing. There was a slip of paper in the book that said The Texas & Pacific R'y with an 1888 date stamped on it. There is writing on the fron page that is not very legible but it look like Lyons, MD, Bagwell (?) Texas. If anyone has any info about this book, its author, its owner, the slip of paper found, or the value of the book, please contact me by email. Thanks.
